ABOUT US

WHY AN ARCADE MUSEUM? Growing up in the 1980's, nothing was better than going to the Space Port Arcade in the Quakerbridge Mall on a Saturday afternoon while my mother was shopping or my friends I were waiting for a movie to start, putting my hard earned paper route money to its best use! There is just something magical about arcades. It seemed that they were interwoven into everything we did, movies, music, playing dungeon and dragons, hanging out with your friends, our culture. Everyone played in the arcade. But the atmosphere that an arcade gave you was amazing too. The semi-darkness enveloped you and was only lit by hundreds of multi-colored blinking lights that were accompanied by a melodious chorus of 8 bit sounds, music, and a host of voices either cheering or groaning in displeasure at having lost a game. The incessent clattering of buttons being mashed down repeatedly and the sound of quarters dropping through coin doors. Encompassing all those sights and sounds were the people. It was always something to be in a room full of like minded players who you would interact with. Complete strangers would come together to play these games, watching and cheering each other on as they tried to achieve high score or beat a particular level. Quarters would be lined up to reserve your spot in order to play the game next. It was wonderful. We are dedicated to the preservation of an entire electronic culture, making these games available for you to play. Our goal at RAM Arcade is to support the gaming community and families. We offer an immersive and rewarding experience playing the games from the arcade's golden eras. All of our machines are originals, many of which are 40 years old or more. Although we do have a few games that were created in the 1990's, the vast majority of our collection is from the 1970's and 80's. Arcades have a certain life to them and the games, oh boy, what can we say about the games except that they are all awesome! And we at RAM Arcade Museum have many of the classics. The games our guests play are both genre defining and groundbreaking in their own right. Almost every game made today can trace their roots back to these games. And to think, our guests get to play the very games that have inspired and been the standard that defines high quality games today. At RAM Arcade you can relive those glorious days from your childhood or experience these fellings for the first time. Walk into another realm full of wonderful game sounds, orignal '80s ardcade games, classic hits from the 80's playing in the background, neon lights, and an overall great time! Put on your 'Members Only' jackets, turn up your collars and tease your hair! Turn back the clock to the '80's when arcades ruled, the sights and sounds were magical and just being there was an awesome experience! So, stop on by and visit us at RAM, where playing nevers gets old! Sincerely, Francis Paixao Owner and Life-Long Gamer
